Argentina football team, led by Lionel Messi, are most likely to tour Bangladesh in June to play a Fifa friendly match, Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin told the media Tuesday.
The Latin American country won the Qatar World Cup 2022 during which the craze for Messi and Co among Bangladesh fans made headlines in global media.
During the World Cup, talks on bringing the champions to Bangladesh started gaining momentum as the BFF also made its own effort after the tournament, which is finally seeing the light.
“The proposed tour of Argentina in Bangladesh is almost finalized. Now the discussion is only on terms and conditions,” BFF chief Salahuddin told Prothom Alo.
“They informed us that they want to come during Fifa window in June. If everything goes fine with terms and conditions, we can say they will come.” he added.
The venue will be Bangabandhu National Stadium where renovation work has been going on.
Salahuddin said the National Sports Council agreed to finish the remaining work by June.
He also said the opponents will be decided after Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni proposed some names upon which they will start work.
